Sorry, I haven't been able to get around to porting the code to work with the RTM version of RIA Services (there were breaking API/name changes).

Hi David,

I'm still having some trouble getting the sample app to compile using the RTM and RC tools and assemblies.

There is an auto-generated file, IssueTrackerLib.Web.g.cs, that contains a reference to System.ServiceModel.Web which doesn't exist. I'm not sure what tool is generating this file or how to tweak it.

The generated file contains a DataContract attribute that references the namespace "http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/IssueTrackerLib.Web". What is this data contract? Can you point me to a tutorial that explains more about the mechanisms that are in play with n-tier business applications such as this?

Thanks, very much,

Rick

I figured it out. There are several disparities between the Beta and RC Ria distributions. See this link for more information...

That one's my fault -- I haven't yet finished updating this sample to the RTW bits of Silverlight -- primarily because there were a number of breaking changes between that version of RIA Services and the latest version. It may still take me some time (don't always find myself with "copious" amounts of free time) to get this working properly with the latest bits, but I'll try to work on it a bit soon.

Hi David,

I am trying to run your sample app and I'm having some trouble with the RIA references.

I have the following setup...
Windows Vista Ultimate, SP2
VS2010 RTMRel
Silverlight 4 SDK
Silverlight 4 Toolkit for April 2010
Silverlight 4 Tools for VS2010
WCF RIA Services Toolkit
WCF RIA Services V1.0 for VS2010

The compiler is unable to resolve the System.Web.DomainServices and System.Web.Ria references. If I try to add a reference to them, the list of references is filtered to Silverlight 4 and does not include any assemblies pertaining to RIA or DomainServices.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Hi David -

Nice presentation. I'm trying to figure out how to wire up parent child relationships on a form using the ria stuff. On your bug system PDC demo, you use a collection insted of a child table. Can you point me toward some info on hoe to do this.
More detailed examples on how to get the Binding UI to work would probably do it.

Thanks Rob

Hi David, Thanx for your example. But I have some problems

1- My database is Oracle how can I connect with it.

2- I have 150 tables at my hr can you give me a method for dynamic binding Ex: one or two classes for many forms (it is better for maintenance).

3- I need a method for modal dialog that return one or more value to the parent form.

    4- What about reports?

That is my problems to transfer my business application.

    Thanx again
